Help a career changer find the shortest real path to an in-demand local job.
Tech partner

People invest months in retraining courses that don't lead to jobs.
People retraining for new careers can't see which skills employers in their region actually want right now, so they follow generic career advice, pick courses on faith, and discover too late that the market moved on — or never wanted those skills locally in the first place.

What to build
Your Mission
Build an AI-powered solution that helps a career changer find the shortest real path to an in-demand local job.
Your solution should replace generic career advice with a live, data-backed picture of a regional labour market: which companies are hiring, which roles are growing, and which skills actually got people hired. How you solve it is up to you. Exa gives you live labour-market intelligence; the rest is yours.
How to build
Master the Challenge.

Scope
What Success Looks Like
There is no single right solution. You could take the problem in many directions — pick a specific user, a clear decision, and make that experience work well.
Tip:
Don't try to solve the whole problem at once. Pick a specific region, industry, or career transition, then make that experience work well.

Requirements
Technical Challenge
Think about how your solution will map a regional labour market — which companies are hiring and which roles are growing — extract the skills that appear in profiles of people recently hired into those roles, turn that into a skills-gap analysis for one specific person, and keep the picture current rather than a snapshot. These are opportunities to explore, not requirements you need to satisfy all at once.
Tip:
Your solution doesn’t need to be production-ready. We welcome everything from early prototypes to fully working implementations and ambitious technical explorations.

Recommended Tools
Exa provides a web retrieval layer that might be useful here. Exa's `company` (50M+) and `people` (1B+) category indexes can map a regional labour market — which companies are hiring, which roles are growing, and what skills appear in the profiles of people recently hired into those roles — while structured outputs turn this into a live, data-backed skills-gap analysis. Whether Exa fits your solution is up to you.
Tip:
Whether or not you use Exa in your solution is entirely up to you.
