Help someone hit by a life shock navigate every system meant to catch them.

The worst time to research bureaucracy is the week your life falls apart.
Job loss, bereavement, eviction, sudden illness — each triggers a maze of deadlines and entitlements across benefits agencies, charities, utilities, landlords, and courts. The support systems exist but don't talk to each other, and people in crisis miss protections with hard deadlines they never knew existed.

What to build
Your Mission
Build an AI-powered solution that guides a person through everything they must do and everything they can claim after a major life shock.
This is a deeper cut of the benefits problem: not one entitlement but an ordered, deadline-aware path across many systems, personalized to one person's situation and jurisdiction. How you solve it is up to you. Exa gives you grounded, cited research across every relevant program and rule; the rest is yours.
How to build
Master the Challenge.

Scope
What Success Looks Like
There is no single right solution. You could take the problem in many directions — pick a specific user, a clear decision, and make that experience work well.
Tip:
Don't try to solve the whole problem at once. Pick a specific life event, jurisdiction, or population, then make that experience work well.

Requirements
Technical Challenge
Think about how your solution will map every program, protection, and obligation triggered by a specific life event in a specific place, sequence actions by deadline and dependency, attach a source and confidence level to every claim, and stay current as rules and programs change. These are opportunities to explore, not requirements you need to satisfy all at once.
Tip:
Your solution doesn’t need to be production-ready. We welcome everything from early prototypes to fully working implementations and ambitious technical explorations.

Recommended Tools
Exa provides a web retrieval layer that might be useful here. Exa's `deep-reasoning` search can research the full landscape a life event triggers — benefits, charity funds, legal protections, fee waivers — with field-level grounding and confidence scores on every eligibility claim, while Monitors track the rule changes that shift what a person is owed. Whether Exa fits your solution is up to you.
Tip:
Whether or not you use Exa in your solution is entirely up to you.
