The Magic Studio has an exciting opportunity for aPrincipal Creative Game Designeron our emerging Universes Beyond product line! This role leads a team of narrative designers and art directors in collaboration with game designers, business partners, and external IP holders. Your mission: craft exciting experiences by bringing Magic gameplay to fans of some of the world's most beloved IPs. Are you ready to dive in?

As the Principal Creative Game Designer, you are an expert communicator and negotiator, coordinating between external IP partners and internal product teams, as well as managing internal creative production efforts. You can adapt your management and communication styles to suit ambiguous situations and different working styles, often across diverse cultures. You routinely present projects to senior leaders and executives with confidence and transparency.

What You'll Do:
Drive the creative vision for assigned co-branded products, balancing product needs with business needs.
Lead your team on all aspects of creative translation of various IPs into the Magic game platform.
Ensure creative consistency and design to the standards established for the Magic TCG.
Ensure successful reviews, implementation of feedback, and approval of benchmark submissions.
Maintain creative alignment between the Executive Creative Director, game designers, product teams, and external partners.
Work with the Creative Resourcing Manager to find and resource external IP SMEs to develop projects.
Work with production and resourcing partners to assist with high-level plans, schedules, and resources.
What You'll Bring:
Leadership Experience:6+ years of creative team management experience, with a passion for leading, encouraging, and nurturing a diverse group of creative developers.
Licensed Partnership Experience:Shipped 2+ projects developed in conjunction with licensed IP holders outside of your organization with an evolved understanding of how to drive development through multiple different organizational approval structures.
Strategic Diligence:Analytic, strategic, resourceful, and structured thinking with the ability to write and maintain detailed and digestible design documentation throughout a project life cycle — motivated by a creative heart.
Strong intellectual curiosity:Can easily iterate on a number of complex and ambiguous scenarios to find the most exciting vision for your product.
Persuasive and effective communication:Experience in diplomatically and effectively negotiating efficient solutions across cross-functional teams.
